Senior GIS Analyst 

 

Seeking an opportunity for a senior role with a dynamic company with multiple subsidiaries with the ability to create efficiencies in systems across an organization? 

The key responsibility of this role is to provide technical expertise to develop, implement, configure, administer, maintain, and analyze all aspects of the corporate Geographic Information System (GIS), Outage Management System (OMS), related platforms, and associated applications across all our FortisOntario locations. This position will also provide user support, troubleshooting, guidance, and training to regional personnel across FortisOntario on matters relating to usage and maintenance of GIS/OMS systems. To be successful in this role, the incumbent will interactively work with other departments such as Information Technology, System Control Room, Engineering and Customer Engagement for the development and deployment of GIS/OMS applications as well as to seek process improvement opportunities.  Responsibilities also include coordination with external customers, contractors, municipal and other government agencies to support GIS data acquisition and sharing.   Travel to FortisOntario locations as required.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Related post-secondary education with a focus on GIS Applications, Geomatics, or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a senior GIS role with relevant experience in the application and administration of enterprise GIS system, specifically ESRI ArcGIS or Intergraph (Hexagon) products.   
  • Knowledge and expertise of GIS specific programming such as SQL or Python.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in spatial data edit, analysis, tabular data query, reporting, and geo-database creation and management. 
  • Have a general understanding of electrical distribution systems, stations, and devices.
  • Must be technology savvy and can continually develop skills and adapt to changes in technology.
  • Experience with utility type data, SCADA and/or Multispeak is considered as an asset.
  • Experience with problem-solving and project management along with verbal and written skills that demonstrate a strong command of communication in all interpersonal relations.
