Job Purpose
To support the Substation crew by Installing, maintaining, trouble-shooting, testing, repairing, replacing, rebuilding and/or removing substation electrical equipment, protective relay devices and other associated components.
Main Responsibilities
a) Planning, prioritizing, scheduling and coordinating assigned projects, inclusive of internal resources, outside contractors and/or customers.
b) Installing, maintaining, testing, calibrating, repairing and/or removing circuit breakers, circuit reclosures, load interrupters, switchgear assemblies, power transformers, storage battery sets and systems, control circuits, transducers, protective relay devices and other such electrical equipment and associated components.
c) Familiar with programming automated switches and reclosures
d) Performing the design, layout, installation, maintenance, testing, calibration, repairs or removal of SCADA telemetry circuits and associated remote terminal units.
e) Performing the design, layout, fabrication, maintenance, repair or removal of electrical/mechanical systems and/or associated apparatus found in substations, buildings, vaults and rooms.
f) Troubleshooting to locate faults, performing functional checks to confirm proper operation, and calibrating to specifications on installed electrical/mechanical equipment and wiring using meters, indicators, computers and other electrical test instruments and equipment.
g) Organizing the pickup and delivery of equipment and tools.
h) Commissioning and decommissioning substations, substation equipment and associated wiring.
i) Reading, interpreting, and maintaining an accurate record of blueprints, specifications, wiring diagrams and equipment maintenance.
j) Performing high voltage switching as directed by the Network Operating Department.
a) Supporting and participating in regular Health and Safety meetings
b) Demonstrating leadership role in Corporate Health & Safety initiatives including conducting periodic department visits and attendance at internal safety meetings
