Wholesale Settlement Analyst

We are currently searching for a Wholesale Settlement Analyst to join our team.

 

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Settlement & AMI Systems, you will be responsible for implementation, maintenance, and enhancements of processes for Wholesale Settlement purposes.  You will ensure that all processes comply with IESO, OEB, OPA, etc. requirements.  You will work closely with the associated groups at the IESO, Hydro One, Meter Service Provider (MSP), other LDCs as well as many internal departments (Billing, Finance, Engineering, Metering, and Customer Service).  Your attention to detail and comfort working in a dynamic market environment make you a strong candidate.  Your responsibilities will include implementation of electricity market regulatory requirements (i.e. Global Adjustment, Feed-In Tariff etc.), timely wholesale settlement, reconciliation with IESO and others. Billing of FIT and embedded generators and audits. The position also looks after Grid Supply Points (GSP) i.e. Project managing, registration, re-seals, line losses calculation etc. to ensure EHM’s GSP are compliant as per IESO market rules. In addition your responsibility will include load forecasting i.e. data preparation and analysis, construction and analysis of load forecast models, inputs, methodologies, etc. generating load forecast for budgeting purposes and assist with other forecasts models as required. 

 

You will ensure timely analysis and reporting of wholesale settlement tasks and communication of results to all levels of management and external authorities are carried out in an accurate and reliable matter. Tasks include validation of IESO invoice and Hydro One Transmission; calculation, completion and submission of IESO settlement forms as required by the IESO Wholesale Market Rules and completion of internal finance accruals.

 

Interaction with all levels of the organization, including Management and Executives is frequently required.

 

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Business & Economics or Finance
  • Professional Accounting Designation CGA or CMA
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles in a regulated industry is an asset
  • Minimum (3-5) years related experience in the electricity market and accounting experience
  • Thorough understanding of the Ontario Electricity Market, both Wholesale and Retail
  • Thorough understanding of the IESO wholesale electricity market rules, other codes and practices, including Physical Market Settlement, Wholesale Metering, Retail Settlement Code and Distribution System Code
  • Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft applications i.e. Excel, Word, Access, etc. Knowledge of business applications i.e. MV90, LPSS, CC&B, JDE is an asset
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, especially technical writing skills to prepare effective, accurate and concise analysis, reports and presentations
  • Sound forecasting, organizational, decision-making, analytical, communication and conceptual skills are required
  • Strong project management skills meeting dynamic and tight regulatory deadlines
  • Innovative, resourceful and able to excel in a team-oriented environment
