MECHANICAL FITTER / TECHNOLOGIST / MILLWRIGHT SUB-FOREPERSON
Located in beautiful cottage country, Orillia Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) has a challenging and unique opportunity for a highly motivated, results oriented and proactive individual that will lead the on-site mechanical work for OPGC and run on-site mechanical projects at our generating stations. OPGC owns and operates six waterpower generating stations and seven solar generation facilities, with a total generating capacity of 22 MW. This is a hands-on unionized position and reports to the Supervisor of Generation Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Effectively work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Electrical Utility Safety Rules, Orillia Power policies and procedures and all relevant legislation.
Productively complete work projects, including working with and leading contractors in overhaul activities of hydro turbines to ensure quality work is carried out
Lead other mechanical fitter/mechanical technologist/millwright position and train employees as required.
Inspect, diagnose, repair and replace faulty equipment.
Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment and facility.
Produce and maintain accurate and complete record management for all maintenance work and site activities.
Ability to read drawings and effectively ensure accuracy of components for machining.
Perform multi-trading work as required.
Purchase parts for ongoing repairs and preventative maintenance in accordance with OPGC purchasing policy
Establish & maintain effective relationships with internal & external customers & suppliers
Qualifications Required:
Qualified Mechanical Fitter or Mechanical Technologist or Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)
Minimum of 5 years experience
Ability to detect and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, identify solutions, repair, fabricate and replace defective components.
Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, sound business ethics with a professional aptitude and positive attitude.
Demonstrated machining, welding and fabricating skills
Experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems
Experience with water turbines and hydro power is an asset
Proven ability to work effectively and safely in a team setting or independently
Excellent delegation, problem solving, organizational and project planning skills
Detail oriented person, strong communicator, with demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement
Valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s license in the Province of Ontario.
