JOURNEYPERSON OPERATOR

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Applicants must possess an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma and have a sound knowledge of electrical theory. 
• Applicants must have successfully completed the MEARIE Operator Training program.
• Applicants must be certified in the Utility Work Protection Code (UWPC) or be able to successfully re-certify in the UWPC course.
• Applicants must have good oral and written communication skills.
• Applicants must possess a valid Province of Ontario Driver’s License.
• Experience in working with Intergraph’s Outage Management System, Survalent’s SCADA System, Excel, Word and AS400 would be an asset. 

DUTIES: 

The successful candidate will be expected to become proficient in all duties normally undertaken by the System Operators such as: 

• The safe and reliable operation of the Hydro One Brampton distribution system.
• Operation of the distribution system via SCADA system on a 24hr/7 day per week basis.
• Operation of a Bermondsey Transformer Station (230 kV/28kV).
• Operation of multiple Municipal Substations.
• Operations under normal and emergency conditions, always cognizant of the need for safety to the public, Hydro One Brampton personnel and equipment.
• Provide an effective and courteous interface for our customers.
• Provide Controlling, Establishing and Issuing Authority functionality as per the Utility Work Protection Code.
• Provide clear and effective communications with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), Ontario Grid Control Centre (OGCC), neighboring Controlling Authorities, senior management at Hydro One Brampton and other outside agencies.
