DEVELOPMENT & EXPANSION SUPERVISOR
This position reports to the Manager of System Planning & Expansion, you will be responsible for overseeing the completion of Engineering projects in a timely fashion, from the preliminary design stage to the completed billing stage, through effective Supervision of the Engineering Technicians and consistent with quality, cost, safety and customer standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be an Engineering Technologist certified with OACETT or registered with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) with a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or license, in good standing.
• Professional Engineering designation would be an asset.
• Excellent knowledge of CSA Underground Standard C22.3 No.7 and Overhead Standard C22.3 No.1. 1 as applied within Hydro One Brampton’s standards and designs.
• Must have distribution utility experience that would allow a familiarity with common utility practices and procedures in engineering and operations departments.
• Extensive Knowledge of ESA Regulation 22/04.
• Sound project management skills with proven abilities to manage multiple assignments. Project Management Professional designation would be an asset.
• Minimum five (5) years’ experience in an Electrical Distribution Utility.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong desire to provide excellent customer service and is a strong team player.
• Ability to meet deadlines, and at times, work under stressful situations.
DUTIES:
• Complete high quality engineering designs that incorporate best utility practice in accordance with accepted HOBNI Standards and all applicable laws, codes and regulations.
• Execute system expansion and development activities that ensure system connections are completed safely, accurately and timely while maintaining reliable and operationally distribution system.
• Approval of distribution designs to ensure compliance with HOB standards and ESA Regulation 22/04.
• Complete economic analysis for preliminary and final billing related to customer connection projects for residential connections and city infrastructure relocation projects in accordance with applicable regulations, codes and practices.
• Identify property requirements during preliminary meetings with the Region of Peel and the City of Brampton.
• Provide supervision and technical support to Engineering Technicians in the preparation of overhead and underground designs.
• Provide technical support to Asset Management and Engineering, Purchasing, Regulatory and Operations.
• Liaise with various stakeholders, both inside and outside the company, to ensure proper scheduling of the capital budget projects, road widening and residential projects.
• Review of City streetlight design submissions to ensure compliance with HOB standards and ESA Regulation 22/04.
• Review and provide comments related to proposed City of Brampton residential draft plan submissions
• Represent Hydro One Brampton during monthly City / Region project coordination meetings.
• Coordinate and provide project services to optimize and execute timely completion of projects relating to development and system expansion.
• Investigate problems and resolve conflicts involving customers, developers, contractors and municipal bodies.
• Develop and implement engineering controls where the need is identified.
• Lead and organize teams that could include internal and/or external representation to investigate a new work method, process, material, equipment or procedure.
