Canadian Niagara Power Inc. (“CNPI”) is an electric distribution company that serves approximately 25,000 customers in Fort Erie and Port Colborne. CNPI is a subsidiary of FortisOntario Inc. which is headquartered in Fort Erie and has operations in electricity transmission and distribution primarily located in Fort Erie, Port Colborne, Cornwall, Gananoque and the district of Algoma. CNPI is currently recruiting the following position working out of our Fort Erie location:

 

SUPERVISOR TECHNICAL SERVICES

 

Responsible for providing leadership and supervision to the areas of SCADA, protection and control as well as substation electrical maintenance. Supervise and coordinate the design, installation, testing, maintenance and repair of technical systems. Responsible for various engineering projects including power quality investigations, protection coordination analysis as well as technical studies and reports. Plays a key role in promoting Health and Safety and ensuring that high standards of safety and environmental compliance are maintained.  Supports the standardization of equipment and work methods, fosters positive labour relations, develops and maintain budgets, and seeks process improvement opportunities.

The ideal candidate shall have the following minimum qualifications: 

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist in the Province of Ontario.
  • 5 – 10 years of supervisory/management experience
  • Sound knowledge of power transmission and distribution systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in SCADA, protection, control, communication, substation, and metering systems
  • Thorough understanding of equipment, standards, and practices applicable to this type of work, as well as a thorough understanding of applicable regulatory codes
  • Thorough understanding of computer applications, such as the Microsoft Office Suite, SAP
  • Thorough understanding and formal certification in EUSA Work Protection Code
  •  Minimum ten years related experience, with at least three years leadership experience
