Planning & Design Coordinator

 

An exciting and challenging opportunity is available for a results-oriented individual to be part of a customer-focused energy distribution corporation serving over 20,000 customers in fifteen communities within Grey, Bruce, Huron and Wellington Counties. Westario Power Inc. requires a Planning & Design Coordinator who will be responsible to the Manager of Operations for achieving the corporate objectives of planning, coordinating and cost estimating the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution and sub-transmission facilities to meet the needs of the corporation and its’ customers. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Prepare plans, cost estimates and layouts for new/upgraded service installations, and liaise with technical staff when requested for job planning and estimating purposes;
  • Assist in the development and administration of the Operations Department’s annual capital and operating budget and manages programs to be consistent with budget objectives;
  • Design and cost new Subdivision expansions and commercial customers over 50KW; and administer regulated documentation;
  • Liaise with customers for all aspects of customer owned generation;
  • Prepare long term capital betterment plans and maintenance works schedules, along with associated cost estimates;
  • Schedule and maintain the fleet of vehicles for regulatory compliances;
  • Develop, review and maintain the Emergency Preparedness Plan and the System Restoration Plan;
  • Liaise with Municipalities on project schedules and Municipal requirements for Street Lighting design cost on company projects. 

To perform this job successfully, an individual will have:

  • University degree or college diploma in Electrical Engineering or ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Thorough knowledge of utility electrical distribution systems including their design, construction and maintenance;
  • Basic knowledge of accounting;
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence according to accepted Company standards;
  • Valid Ontario drivers license to operate the class of vehicles used in the position.
