FINANCIAL ANALYST

TEMPORARY POSITION

(approx. 14 months)

 

InnPower Corporation is the local distribution company serving more than 16,000 customers in the Town of Innisfil and south Barrie, located north of Toronto near the shores of Lake Simcoe.  This is a union position, working 40 hours per week reporting to the Accounting Manager.  

DUTIES: 

  • Organize and draft monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for review, in accordance with Financial Reporting requirements of the CICA Handbook and the Ontario Energy Board (OEB);

  • Assist the Accounting Manager with the preparation for the annual audit;

  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of financial records and resolve discrepancies through analysis;

  • Assist with report and record keeping requirements as a result of Incentive Rate Mechanism, Cost of Service decisions and ongoing OEB filings;

  • Compile and prepare monthly financial reports;

  • Process additions, dispositions, capital contributions and depreciation within the general ledger and sub ledger and prepare Capital Asset continuity schedules;

  • Collaborate with Purchasing to investigate discrepancies in the preparation of monthly inventory analysis;

  • Assist with government agency reporting and communication to ensure filing compliance with tax and regulatory requirements;

  • Provide back up for accounting staff, including accounts payable, sundry receivables, work order processing, fixed asset records, water/waste water, purchase orders and inventory. 

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Enrolled and currently pursuing CGA/CA/CMA (CPA) at intermediate/senior level.

  • University degree or working towards a university degree.

  • Several years intermediate financial accounting experience.

  • Excellent analytical skills.

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Strong understanding of Canadian GAAP/IFRS. 

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains is an asset.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Team player, comfortable with working with all levels of the organization.

  • Able to work independently, use judgement and take responsibility.
