LINE SUPERVISOR

 

Summary

Our client is a top tier LDC serving a large rural geography with mid-size urban towns, located in South Central Ontario. The Power Line Supervisor is responsible to the Line Superintendent for the safe and efficient direction of workers in the maintenance and construction of overhead and underground distribution and sub-transmission facilities to meet the needs of customers. 

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Work Planning

  • Plan work programs to achieve objectives, considering availability of staff, equipment, material and the need for safety, quality and economy.

  • Schedule and organize work to meet unusual and emergency situations.

  • Implement new or modified work methods and techniques to improve efficiency, safety, and accuracy

Functional Direction

  • Supervise field personnel and coordinate contractors, assigning work projects with risk management techniques, and other details as required.

Staff Relations/Training

  • Assist in staff training and development ensuring it is carried out according to approved programs and procedures.

Reporting

  • Inform the Line Superintendent of daily operations and all matters requiring attention.

  • ­Prepare and submit reports requested by the Line Superintendent outlining details and statistics of work assignments, conditions and challenges.

Safety and Regulatory Compliance

  • Must possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of all company safety policies and regulations, and have the ability to communicate these to employees, the public, and ensure the policies are adhered to.

  • Participate in training and education to maintain certification in all relevant areas.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma in combination with Journeyperson Certificate in Power Line Maintainer with five to ten years related experience, and minimum five years’ experience supervising power line construction, maintenance and operations.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawing standards and procedure manuals.

Computer Skills

  • General knowledge of the Company’s Job Costing System & proficient on Microsoft Office

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Journeyperson Power Line Maintainer Certificate or recognized equivalent certificate.

  • Valid “DZ” Ontario drivers license to operate the class of vehicles used in the position.
