Design Technician

The Design Technician is responsible for the design of overhead and underground projects, street light design projects, preparation and issuing of work orders, detailed estimates and material lists. Preparation of distribution standards, specifications, and evaluation of tenders also, cover duties for Service Coordinator, Underground Inspector, Mapping and Surveying Technician’s during periods of vacation or peak activity. Prepares and completes various reports as required.
Provide an effective and courteous interface to customers, and co-workers
Excellent time management skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work within tight timelines
Have previous experience in the design of electrical distribution systems
This position will appeal to a highly motivated self-starter who can make a significant contribution to a changing environment. Applicants must have proven leadership skills in a project management position in an electrical utility or related environment, as well as superior oral and written communication, interpersonal and presentations skills. A high level of computer competency is also required. A Community College diploma as an Engineering Technician or Technologist with a C.Tech. or C.E.T. designation is preferred and progressive experience is expected. A valid driver’s license must be maintained.
