JOURNEYPERSON LINEPERSON

 

We currently have a vacancy in our Line Construction Department for a Journeyperson Lineperson.  Interested candidates must apply in writing to express their interest in the position, with a cover letter and resume, outlining their education, experience and related qualifications. 

The successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications: 

    • MEARIE / EDA (formerly MEA) certification as a Journeyperson Powerline Technician,
    • Experience in working in distribution system pole line and cable system construction, maintenance and/or operation as a qualified lineperson or apprentice with an excellent record working safety in a team environment
    • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and solid understanding of basic electric circuit theory.
    • Minimum Grade 12 education.
    • Valid driver’s licence.  Applicant must be prepared to obtain Class ‘AZ’ licence within one year and maintain it.
    • High regard for personal and public safety in a team setting.
    • Ability to work with confidence both aloft and within confined spaces.
    • Regular work in proximity to energized primary distribution equipment.
    • Ability to perform essential duties of the position including regular standby duties and the response to emergency call-outs within thirty minutes.
    • Demonstrated company values, in particular respect in the workplace, ethics and working safely. 

The successful candidate will be expected to work on and operate high voltage power distribution equipment (up to 44kV).  If the successful candidate is an apprentice, the he or she be assigned to various crews throughout the orientation/ apprenticeship period and, with training, will also be expected to work on and operate high voltage power distribution equipment (up to 44kV).
