Electric Meter Supervisor

 

Bring your journeyperson metering qualifications and your knowledge of regulatory requirements to this supervisory role within our Electric Meter Department

Reporting to the Director of Metering Services, you will supervise the installation, operation, maintenance and application of all electric metering and related equipment for London Hydro. As an Electric Meter Supervisor, you will be expected to assume responsibility for work quality and productivity, and for the care and condition of the tools, materials and equipment. You must be available for stand-by duty.

Specifically, as an Electric Meter Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise Electric Meter Department staff.

  • Establish work standards.

  • Plan, coordinate and prioritize work assignments for the Department.

  • Evaluate the work of assigned crews and outside contractors.

  • Plan capital and maintenance work.

  • Supervisor a meter testing program in accordance with government regulations and requirements, including the preparation of related schedules.

  • Oversee and manage an ISO 9001-2008 Quality Management System and Measurement Canada accreditation, including maintaining records and documentation.

  • Liaise with government inspectors on the inspection of meters and the handling of customer metering disputes.

  • Troubleshoot complex metering anomalies at large commercial and industrial customer sites.

  • Negotiate and consult with neighbouring utilities for metering service contracts.

  • Coordinate capital projects and maintenance programs with other utility departments, outside contractors, customers, Hydro One, and the general public.

  • Participate in the annual budget development process.

  • Prepare and manage the annual capital and O&M budgets for the Department.

  • Purchase, monitor, and maintain adequate inventory levels of new, reused and retired metering equipment.

  • Perform other job-related duties.

  • Adhere to all Occupational Health & Safety Act rules and regulations, the E&USA rule book, London Hydro work practices and London Hydro’s Health & Safety Management System. 

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

The qualified Electric Meter Supervisor we seek will be able to meet the following requirements:

  • Graduation from a community college diploma program in a related field requiring more than 2 years to obtain, PLUS additional specialized training in a related area.

  • Valid Class G driver’s licence.

  • Knowledge of Measurement Canada’s Revenue Metering regulatory requirements, and IESO metering requirements.

  • Journeyperson Metering 4-year apprenticeship and related formal training.

  • Meter manufacturer-specific training.

  • Supervisory and management training and/or skills.
