CAD designer, Hydro Distribution
Reporting to the Manager of Hydro, the CAD Designer, Hydro Distribution will be responsible for all facets of overhead and underground electrical distribution design drafting for our existing and perspective Utility clients.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain electrical overhead and underground distribution designs according to specifications provided by the local distribution company needs
Assist the Engineering Design Technicians with project documentation
Gather field information, prepare bill of materials, prepare drawing quantity take offs, assist with estimating
Liaise with internal departments
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required
Knowledge and Skills
Minimum 5 years of experience with Hydro Distribution design
Proficient with the use of computers and software, particularly AutoCAD, Microstation and MS Office (minimum 5 years with Microstation)
Post secondary education in Civil or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
Sound knowledge and experience with CAD applications and practices
Valid class “G” Ontario driver’s license and own transportation
Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
Excellent safety and attendance record and previously demonstrated strong safety awareness
Self motivated, ability to learn new skills, assume new responsibilities and work cooperatively in a team environment
