Costello Utility Consultants is a leading engineering firm that provides engineering and management services to Canadian electric utilities. Our technical consultants provide expert knowledge in distribution system planning, overhead and underground design, substation design, construction management, protection and control, SCADA systems, telecommunications, and third party pole attachments.  

Costello Utility Consultants is looking for experienced technical writers to join our engineering and regulatory group in our London office. You will work alongside highly skilled and passionately engaged engineers and technologists in researching, developing, editing and publishing regulatory and technical material for both internal and external clients.  

Position Overview

    • Collaborate with engineering and regulatory team members to produce research and reports.
    • Analyze processes both functionally and technically.
    • Write and edit technical and regulatory documents, including applications and supporting information to utility regulators.
    • Ensure technical verbiage is easy to understand by non-technical readers.
    • Facilitate document review and obtain approvals.
    • Travel to branch offices and client locations as required. 

Desired Skills and Experience: 

    • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • A degree or certificate in a communications-related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
    • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
    • Demonstrated expert user of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and InDesign.
    • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as with other team members.
    • The ability to gather feedback and generate multiple iterations.
    • The ability to cope with tight deadlines and rapidly shifting priorities.
    • Solid presentation skills and proven ability to present to clients.
    • Research, interviewing and analytical skills.
    • Excellent editing and proofreading skills.
    • Must be able to provide samples of your work.
    • Must be a self-starter and be able to work with clients and internal customers.
