Vice President of Engineering and Operations                 

Entegrus Powerlines, a progressive company dedicated to providing the highest level of service and a positive work environment is seeking a Vice President of Engineering and Operations. The Vice President, Engineering and Operations is a key member of the Executive Management team, responsible for the developing and implementing the company’s strategy in the areas of Operations.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Vice President Engineering and Operations is responsible for all aspects of the utility distribution system with a primary focus on safety while delivering a reliable service.  This position reports directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer.

 

This Department of the Company is responsible for the following functions: the safety program for all Entegrus departments; all maintenance and capital programs for the distribution infrastructure, both overhead and underground; maintenance of the substations; the metering system and the communication infrastructure; power quality of the distribution system; implementation of smart grid technology; control room operations along with overseeing the emergency response procedures; fleet purchasing and maintenance; buildings maintenance.

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Undergraduate Degree in Electrical Engineering or Applied Science, with power courses from a university accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board of the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers or the equivalent, or a strong combination of equivalent technical experience and education.
    • Being a licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) in the discipline of Electrical Engineering.
    • Evidence of relevant and advanced continuous learning.

 

EXPERIENCE:

    • A minimum of fifteen years’ experience, five plus years at a senior management level in the planning, design, construction and operation of electrical distribution and street lighting systems, and in the management of technical, construction and operations employees. 
    • A solid proven track record in leading, motivating, coaching and gaining the respect of employees in a unionized environment, working pro-actively with the union and interpreting the Collective Agreement and employment law.
    • Demonstrated a collaborative approach to leadership.
    • Demonstrated commitment to safety and respect in the workplace 

 

    • Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
    • Knowledge of industry regulations and trends.
    • Knowledge of utility and business finance and accounting methods
    • Computer proficiency with desktop and engineering analysis software applications.
