G.I.S. Technologist

 

Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. is seeking a highly qualified individual to join our Engineering Department in the position of  G.I.S. Technologist. This exciting position will require the successful incumbent to administer, maintain, analyze and support corporate information systems including the G.I.S. and OMS as well as provide technical support and training for system users. 

Required qualifications for this position include: 

    • Post secondary education equivalent to a college diploma in Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering or related field.
    • Minimum two years of engineering information systems, including GIS, and relational database experience, or equivalent.
    • Sound computer programming is required.
    • Ability to provide technical support and training for system users of the G.I.S. and OMS systems.
    • Requires an understanding of inter-related work processes to be able to adapt to differing assignments.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze business needs and requirements to recommend and implement new software and hardware for the Engineering and Operations Departments.
    • Knowledge of software packages including MS Office applications.
    • Work experience in an electric utility is an asset. 

The successful applicant requires a demonstrated level of initiative and judgment in order to organize and prioritize tasks, workload and projects. Courtesy, tact and diplomacy are required in dealing with colleagues in every day working relationships.
