FINANCIAL & REGULATORY ANALYST

Reporting to the Manager, Regulatory Affairs and Financial Planning, you will be responsible for the preparation, and analysis of financial and regulatory data, including assistance and support for the preparation of the annual budget and long-term forecast processes. You will be responsible for the preparation of regulatory accounting entries, variance analysis and supporting schedules as part of the month-end financial statement process, including deferral & variance accounts, unbilled revenue computation, distribution revenue, and regulatory continuity schedules.  This position will also provide detailed financial analysis to support business decisions. You will develop and prepare financial models, cost/benefit analysis, develop key measures/statistics, and make recommendations to support operating initiatives and/or new business opportunities.  Additional responsibilities include the preparation of regulatory financial models and filings, including rate applications.  

A professional CPA accounting designation (CGA, CMA, or CA) and a degree in business or a related field is required.  The successful candidate will have strong analytical, project management, communication and interpersonal skills, with a minimum of three years’ experience.  With solid business analysis and planning experience, the candidate is able to handle multiple projects and exercise good judgement in prioritizing tasks and achieving established timelines. A sound working knowledge of IFRS, utility accounting, and regulatory issues is considered an asset. Proficient use in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, is required.
