OPERATIONS MANAGER

 

InnPower Corporation is the local distribution company serving approximately 16,000 customers in the Town of Innisfil and South Barrie, located 40 minutes north of Toronto near the shores of Lake Simcoe. 

InnPower currently has a vacancy for an Operations Manager.  

Reporting to the Vice President, Engineering and Operations, the successful candidate will: 

  • manage the daily coordination of line crews to efficiently maintain and construct the overhead and underground distribution system;

  • be available for supervisory on-call;

  • coordinate and manage restoration of planned and unplanned outages;

  • be accountable for the Forestry requirements of the distribution system; 

  • manage the installation and connection of residential, industrial, commercial and temporary services to meet Customer in-service dates; 

  • be responsible for various aspects of multiple project planning and preparation including scheduling of work in order of priority, material management and/or ordering and customer interaction.  Responsibilities include preparing or reviewing of project job plans, ensuring compliance with all applicable corporate and industry safety policies, procedures, and standards; 

  • review and approve technical requirements and construction details of proposed work; provide technical assistance/advice and recommendations as required;

  • review and analyze work with the view of improving methods, practices, scheduling, cost efficiencies and customer service;

  • coordinate and liaise with Human Resources to ensure all relevant legislated training and licensing requirements of line staff are maintained;

  • be responsible for the procurement and maintenance of all line vehicles, tools and equipment;

  • be responsible for providing input to annual budgeting process and for monitoring operational budget areas;

  • participate in interdepartmental liaising and cooperation;

  • perform site visits to crews and contractors in accordance with corporate policy and procedural guidelines; 

  • draft switching procedures and coordinate switching and hold-offs with Hydro One. 

Qualifications

  • Must have minimum of 5 years of varied experience as a certified powerline maintainer;

  • 3 to 5 years of management experience would be an asset; 

  • 1 to 3 years of experience as a systems operator would be an asset;

  • college diploma in an electrical discipline would be an asset;

  • knowledge of SCADA systems;

  • excellent organizational and project management skills;

  • adaptable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;

  • demonstrated leadership skills and ability to motivate and inspire teamwork;

  • self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

  • excellent health and safety record;

  • good knowledge of Microsoft programs;

  • valid Class G driver’s license.
