Position Details:                  Temporary Full-Time, 40 hrs/week (until November 2017)

Primary Duties  

The Human Resources Advisor is responsible for supporting all key HR areas of Human Resources with a focus on Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).  Additionally, the HR Advisor provides guidance and support on disability management, labour relations, policies and procedures and company objectives. The HR Advisor is a flexible, confident individual who is able to advance organizational culture by modeling organizational values, promoting HR initiatives and demonstrating sound judgment. Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources the HR Advisor will: 

    • Be responsible for supporting and implementing HRIS improvements and initiatives and maintaining HRIS data
    • Have the ability to create and modify HRIS queries for reports and manipulation of data, compile various HR metrics, provide meaningful analysis including trends and recommendations for areas of focus and improvements
    • Be responsible for return to work coordination for occupational (WSIB) and non-occupational illness and injury
    • Maintain knowledge on new and evolving employment legislation such as AODA, ESA, HR, disability management, while identifying gaps and making recommendations  for compliance as required
    • Build and maintain relationships with clients and management, including listening to and understanding different perspectives and providing sound coaching and guidance on identified matters
    • Respond to client requests, issues and enquiries with regards to interpreting policies and programs, Collective Agreement, and compensation and benefits
    • Review processes and recommend efficiency improvements 

Education, Licenses/Certification and Other Qualifications Required        

    • A three-year diploma or degree in Human Resources (or equivalent) is required
    • Professional Human Resources designation must be obtained or in progress
    • 3-5 years of experience is required, with experience in an unionized environment, an asset
    • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work in a team environment with a strong customer focus
    • Ability to embrace change and deal effectively with competing demands in a dynamic work environment
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite products
    • Experience with an HRMS/HRIS system, PeopleSoft is considered an asset
    • Experience in the principles of disability management including accommodations
    • Experience in the WSIB process and policies is considered an asset
    • Payroll experience is considered an asset
