Job Location: 3240 Mavis Road, Mississauga

The Opportunity

This position reports to the Metering Supervisor, General Services. Preference is for a fully qualified Meter Technician with a C. Tech or CET designation. To be considered at the Apprentice level, candidates must possess a minimum of a Certified Technician diploma and be actively pursuing a C. Tech designation. 

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Install, test, analyze, single and poly phase meters, plus install and repair complex meter installations.
  • Record meter inventory transactions and maintain levels of equipment.
  • Work with internal staff, outside contractors and customers to ensure accurate and timely metering service.
  • Administrative tasks: prepare reports and assist in preparation of standards drawings, provide field information to resolve billing conflicts, etc.
  • Utilize laptop computers to download data from electronic metering installations and perform diagnostics.
  • Perform other duties as required.

The successful candidate must possess the following: 

  • Post-secondary education with a focus on electrical technology.
  • Certified Technician diploma and C.Tech designation. C.E.T accreditation is an asset.
  • E.D.A. Metering certificate or equivalent trade program.
  • Minimum 3- years’ experience at the Journeyman Technician level which includes installation and removal of meters and cross-phase analysis. Candidates without an E.D.A. Metering Certificate may be considered at an Apprentice level in accordance with relevant qualifications and work experience.
  • Sound knowledge of current Ontario Electrical Safety Codes.
  • Proficiency in general computer skills in order to understand and operate a variety of metering programs.
  • Good physical condition, including the ability to lift weights 50 to 70 lbs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven customer service capabilities
  • Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
  • Knowledge of the I.E.S.O. market rules.
