ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
Grimsby Power is located in the Town of Grimsby, on the western edge of the Region of Niagara. Grimsby Power serves over 11,000 customers and is committed to providing the Town of Grimsby with an economical, safe and reliable supply of energy.
Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, this position is responsible for the design of the distribution infrastructure including all projects and connections. Also provides information and technical services to the customers of the utility, or their agents, including, but not limited to, estimating costs of services and specifications for projects, transformer evaluation, site inspections, equipment testing and computer aided drafting. This includes both Engineering and Metering design and implementation. Also provides technical support for PC workstations, servers, various network infrastructure devices and mobile devices as need.
The successful applicant will have the following minimum qualifications:
Certified Engineering Technician (C.E.T.) effective Feb 2016
Proficient at computer applications (MS Office, AutoCad)
Proficient in GIS (ESRI - ArcMap is preferred)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Experience with distribution system modeling software (DESS is preferred)
Knowledge of protection and control and distribution automation is an asset
College diploma in Electrical Engineering at the Technician or Technologist level, eligible for O.A.C.E.T.T. accreditation
Continuing education would be an asset.
Valid Class G drivers license with a clean abstract;
