Finance & Regulatory Manager

Festival Hydro is a distribution company serving 20,000 customers in seven municipalities. We are a progressive utility looking for an incumbent that supports our ongoing commitment to customer and operational excellence.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance and Regulatory Manager will be responsible for keeping proper financial records, aiding in financial and regulatory reporting, and effective leadership of accounting staff.

Specific accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Assisting in the preparation of quarterly and year-end financial statements and related financial analysis for the Board of Directors;
Reviewing general ledger records and reconciliations;
Overview of all month end procedures;
Assisting with annual financial statement audit;
Assisting with the development of operating and capital budgets for the Organization;
Coordinating and preparing regulatory filings as required with various regulating bodies, including the Ontario Energy Board, CRTC, Ministry of Finance, CRA;
Supervision of Accounting department staff.

Qualifications:

Designated Accountant – CPA;
Minimum of 3 years management experience;
Background in a utility environment considered an asset;
Demonstrated knowledge of Government legislation, regulations, accounting principles and guidelines (IFRS);
Extensive computer skills, including word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database software, and internet use;
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills;
Strong project and time management skills;
Strong leadership and teambuilding skills;
Able to think strategically, use professional judgment and take initiative;
Ability to accept additional responsibility as assigned.
