Payroll/Human Resources Administrator

 

Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro Inc. is a local distribution company that is responsible for distributing electricity to 92,000 homes and businesses within the City of Kitchener and Township of Wilmot.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient processing of the weekly payrolI for all employees including year-end processing and balancing. Full payroll preparation including bank file transmission and general ledger entry and reconciliation.
  • Preparation of annual statements of earnings and deductions, records of employment, inclusive of all statutory and voluntary remittances for payroll related functions such as: Receiver General, EHT, OMERS, Union Deductions, CSB’s etc.
  • Assist with the management of WSIB claims, inclusive of compliance filing of required reporting for injured workers.
  • Assist with administration budgets related to payroll costs.
  • Assist with administrative support in areas such as performance management, attendance management, policy writing and updating, recruitment activities, supporting engagement initiatives and various other projects as required.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a post-secondary diploma in Business Administration or related discipline.
  • Must have a minimum of three to five years related experience with payrolls and human resources.
  • Must have or working towards the Canadian Payroll Association (Payroll Compliance Practitioner, PCP) Certification and a CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) Designation.
  • Must have a general understanding of applicable laws, codes and legislation related to the field.
  • Requires good judgement, strong financial acumen, resourcefulness, discretion and someone who is extremely reliable and ethical. Must develop and maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite. Preference will be given to those with Sharepoint, JD Edwards and/or Windows-based payroll systems.
