JOURNEYPERSON METER TECHNICIAN

 

Halton Hills Hydro is looking to fill the position of Journeyperson Meter Technician, in our Metering Department. Interested candidates may apply, in confidence, to express their interest in the position, outlining their education, experience and related qualifications. The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: 

  • A graduate of a Community College program in electrical technology (Power or Control) leading to registration as a certified engineering technologist or technician; field experience with electrical background up to 750V;
  • Experience in an electrical utility, in particular with electrical servicing and familiarity with Measurement Canada requirements, is a definite asset;
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety in the workplace;
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, analytical and trouble shooting skills;
  • Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal skills;
  • Concise written and verbal communication skills;
  • Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License;
  • Proven ability to work effectively and safely in a team environment;
  • Ability to perform essential duties of the position including the physical demands required which could be lifting in excess of 50 lbs., working in extreme weather conditions and working in an aerial device;
  • Proficient in the use of a computer and related software applications, (ie) Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Demonstrated company values, in particular, respect in the workplace; 

Duties of the Journeyperson Meter Technician will include maintaining the infrastructure, (electronic interval meters, related communications equipment and network management systems), as well as the following: 

  • Installation and maintenance of single phase and polyphase meters and metering systems;
  • Programming of electronic meters and testing of meters to ensure their accuracy;
  • Setup and support of interval data collection systems (currently MV90);
  • Maintenance, installation, operation and troubleshooting of Metering Systems; and
  • Other duties as required. 

This is a union position (40 hours per week) and compensation will be negotiated in accordance with the current Collective Agreement.
