Journeyperson Powerline Maintainer

 

We are currently seeking a Journeyperson Powerline Maintainer to join our team at Lakeland Power Ltd. located in beautiful Muskoka/Parry Sound. This position will be based in Parry Sound. We are currently looking to expand our team with the candidate being responsible for the day to day construction, operation, and maintenance of the electrical distribution system which services our customers within Muskoka and Parry Sound.

The successful candidate will have proven technical skill categories focusing the maintenance and installation of electrical distribution systems and services. 

Responsibilities include; 

  • Maintain relevant electrical systems and services
  • Work with other disciplines as required
  • Manage ESA permits and necessary locate requirements
  • Manage inventory
  • Service and trouble-shoot electrical related issues
  • Ensure all work meets ESA and internal requirements
  • Responsible for completing work / service orders within the allotted time frames
  • Ensure all installation/service work is done according to quality standards
  • Report and communicate according to company procedures
  • Assist with work overflow as needed
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Adhere to safety policy and proven ability to work effectively and safely in a team setting
  • Complete paperwork as required – Job Planning, tailboards, timesheets, traffic planning
  • Performance of all work within health and safety regulations, company standards, industry standards and applicable regulatory codes 
  • Other duties as assigned

Technical/Professional Competencies

  • Must be a fully licensed journeyperson linesman with a minimum of 5 years’ post journeyperson experience
  • Complete knowledge and superior working experience with electrical power distribution systems
  • Exemplary understanding of industry and regulatory standards
  • Lead and support team members on technical and job-related matters
  • Above average Computer skills including Auto-CAD, MS Office, Scada Systems a definite asset
  • Knowledge of ESA regulations, Electrical Code and Occupational Health and Safety rules.

  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, communication, leadership, problem solving and personal skills
  • Analytical, troubleshooting skills
  • Willingness to travel periodically
  • High regard for personal and public safety
  • Physically fit, able to lift various types and weights of equipment, climb heights, be in crawl spaces, have Bucket truck and Aerial hydro line construction experience
  • Able to work after standard hours, in adverse weather conditions, and on-call rotation
  • Maintain a positive attitude in order to encourage and promote staff morale.
  • Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised, in a team setting, or as a lead hand if required
  • Safety conscious and willing to learn and adapt to changing technologies in the industry.
  • Clean driving record, Minimum Class D license.

Pay and Benefits are per the Collective Labor Agreement.
