Analyst Programmer

WNH is currently seeking an Analyst Programmer to join our IT team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Vice President – Information Technology Services, you are Customer Service oriented and possess excellent communication skills to foster cooperation and collaboration with End Users, internal IT staff and external vendors.

You understand accountability to IT Management and the End User for on-time completion and quality of work. You are responsible for performing detailed requirements definition and preparing well written specifications, followed by program design and software development. You collaborate closely with IT Management, End Users and external vendors when collecting, defining and documenting changes to existing applications as well as with programming design process for software development.

You provide technical support and guidance to other IT staff members for various projects.   In cooperation with IT Management, you develop and maintain project implementation schedules in a timely and organized manner. You work within budget and conduct project status reviews on a regular basis with IT Management and the End Users. You comply with established IT documentation standards which include systems, technical and User documentation. You provide effective application support for IT operations staff and End User departments. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct hands-on approach to detailed analysis of new and existing business processes, prepare work specifications/design, develop/guide code preparation, test, debug, document, implement and maintain programs complying with WNH’s IT Change Management and Cyber Security standards  
  • Develop and maintain detailed project implementation schedules with hands-on responsibility in completing itemized tasks and conducting detailed status reviews with End Users and IT Management
  • Develop integrated solutions between various internal applications as well as with external system environments in collaboration with IT Management
  • Utilize knowledge of data base concepts, theories and principles to develop effective software solutions for End Users
  • Provide technical and application support assistance to End Users, IT operations staff, external vendors and outside contractors
  • Provide training and guidance for End Users
  • Define, develop, deliver and maintain a wide range of Corporate reports using SQL and a 3rd party report writer tool
  • Liaise with IT operations staff to assist in resolving support issues related to software products, internally developed systems or routine product upgrades
  • Look for opportunities to improve levels of service recognizing the needs and expectations of our Users
  • Comply with departmental standards for Project Documentation, Change Management, Production Release Management, requirements analysis and solution design
  • Assist in the daily organization of the department to maintain a high level of efficiency
  • Perform other projects or duties as assigned 

Education and Experience Requirements: 

  • Minimum of three years post-secondary education in business and computer programming discipline with 3 – 7 years of related experience
  • Strong Customer Service orientation
  • Experienced in leading application requirements definition discussions and project status reviews
  • Must be a strong problem solver with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and guide a variety of audiences
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to multitask when presented with multiple support issues
  • Solid understanding and demonstrated working knowledge of SQL, MS SSIS (Sequel Server Integration Services), XML, and C#.
  • Experience with IBM COGNOS would be an asset
  • Exposure to JAVA would be beneficial
