ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

 

ondon Hydro is seeking an Electrical Engineer to enhance its Engineering & Operations team. Specifically, your duties and responsibilities as an Electrical Engineer will include: 

  • Contributing to cross-functional teams to optimize the electrical distribution system.
  • Supervising technicians and technologists.
  • Leveraging GIS, OMS, SCADA, Metering, IT, and System Analysis tools to develop advanced engineering solutions that enhance productivity.
  • Analyzing long-term trends and emergency operational issues.
  • Preparing designs and co-ordinating projects for the corporation’s capital investment plan.
  • Investigating protection and control issues, including hands-on troubleshooting in the field.
  • Maintaining construction standards and specifications for equipment.
  • Liaising with consultants, developers, contractors and customers.
  • Representing London Hydro on external committees - regional planning, reliability, etc.
  • Preparing supporting documentation for regulatory submissions.
  • Using strong oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skills to achieve goals.
  • Applying the Utility Work Protection Code.
  • Adhering to all Occupational Health & Safety Act rules and regulations, Infrastructure Health & Safety Association rules, London Hydro Safe Work Practices, Environmental Policies and Health and Safety policies.
  • Performing other duties related to the above job purpose. 

The qualified Electrical Engineer we seek will be able to meet the following requirements: 

  • Successful completion of a bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from a recognized university.
  • Registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.E.O.) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with power distribution systems.
  • Valid Class G driver’s licence.
