BUSINESS ANALYST

 

Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Business Analyst. This exciting position will report to the Manager, Business Application Support, and will be responsible for investigating business workflows, identifying options for improving business processes and bridging the needs of the business with the use of system functionality and workflow re-engineering. This includes a variety of co-ordination, testing and end user training to assist in the success of the implementation of business application solutions. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Investigates, analyzes and documents specifications for system interfaces and provides recommendations on functional solutions including business rules and/or configuration.
  • Prepares Business Requirements Documents/Business Concept Document, including functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Reviews open issues with business users, ensuring that their needs are understood, identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner. Issues are escalated to technical support as required.
  • Assists in testing efforts of software and processes, including any hardware impacts as a result of new business functionality.      
  • Communicates needed changes to the IT department; and works closely with IT in testing efforts, regardless of hardware or software. 

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Business Administration, Computer Science or a related field.
  • Requires a working knowledge of relevant MS Office software including Word, Visio, and MS Project.
  • Knowledge of database software /process workflow would be an asset.
  • Minimum 2 - 3 years experience as a business analyst with experience in technical writing.
  • Work experience in an electrical utility is an asset.
  • Requires an understanding of inter-related work processes to be able to adapt to differing assignments.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to draw on a number of known creative and analytical options to solve problems and develop improvements.
