Director, Regulatory Policy and Strategy

 

 

On January 16, 2017, southern Ontario’s emerging electrical utility, MergeCo, announced that it now has an official name. The merger between Enersource, Horizon Utilities and PowerStream—and purchase of Hydro One Brampton—is officially known as Alectra. 

Alectra’s family of energy companies distributes electricity to nearly one million customers in 15 communities within an 1,800 square kilometer service area in Ontario’s Greater Golden Horseshoe Area, and provides innovative energy solutions to these and thousands more across the province. The Director, Regulatory Policy & Strategy identifies and formulates business perspectives on industry and regulatory topics that have strategic implications for the organization to ensure alignment of regulatory strategy with financial planning, budgeting and investment activities. This position will primarily involve partnering with functional areas across the organization to develop and deliver regulatory strategic business perspectives that inform, influence and define emerging industry trends. This position also builds key relationships with regulators, government, industry peers and stakeholders to strategically influence the regulation landscape to provide “best value” to our customers and shareholders. 

As the ideal candidate for this role, you are a skilled communicator and consensus builder that is effective at leading large-scale regulatory application processes. You possess expert knowledge of all regulatory and governmental requirements. A self-starter with leadership experience, you combine exceptional interpersonal skills with a proactive managerial style.
