Cornwall Electric, a FortisOntario company, who provides electrical transmission and distribution to approximately 28,000 customers in and around the Cornwall/Gananoque areas, has an employment opportunity for a:

 

CUSTOMER SERVICE/BILLING CLERK

 

Under the general direction of the Supervisor, Customer Service, the candidate will provide service to the general public regarding billing inquiries, payments, routine credit arrangements, and other customer service related requirements. The candidate will also be required to complete the billing process and review readings and consumption for accuracy, calculate and check bills against history for any discrepancies, print and post bills as required. The ability to effectively deal with customer complaints in a professional and courteous manner is essential for this position. 

We are seeking a highly detail oriented individual that will excel in a fast pace environment, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to multi-task. The ideal candidate must have a desire to provide exceptional customer service and can work both independently and part of a dynamic team. We are accepting applications from candidates that have previous customer service experience, preferably in a utility environment, and have proven problem solving skills.

  • Post-Secondary education in Social Sciences, Business Administration, or in a related discipline, and have five (5) years’ experience in a customer service related position.
  • Candidate will have the ability/aptitude to perform mathematical calculations and demonstrated knowledge with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Capability to work under a pre-determined billing schedule and meet deadlines.
  • Requires initiative to carry out the work assigned with a minimum supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English (spoken and written)/French (spoken), combined with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Must maintain a valid Ontario class “G” driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
