VICE PRESIDENT, FINANCE & CORPORATE SUPPORT

 

PUC Services Inc. operates multiple utilities within and around the City of Sault Ste. Marie, including the supply and delivery of electricity and drinking water, energy services and the treatment of water and wastewater.

You are the ideal candidate if you possess:

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance or related area and ten years of experience preferably in a utility environment;
  • A professional CPA accounting designation;
  • Minimum of seven years of progressive management experience that has significant demonstrated leadership with managing multiple projects and/or departments;
  • Strong knowledge of related legislation, codes, standards and practices, including rules and regulations developed for the deregulated Ontario electricity market, with advanced knowledge of the OEB codes and regulations;
  • Extensive knowledge of office software systems including Work Management Systems and advanced skills in spreadsheet and financial accounting software;
  • Strong understanding of project management principles;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, influence, motivate and mentor staff towards achieving company objectives, deal with stakeholders and deliver clear customer value;
  • Well-developed analytical, organizational, technical and communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems, adapt to new and rapidly changing situations, plan and organize the affairs of the Division in alignment with corporate strategies;
  • Ability to foster a climate of innovation by way of new technology and business development; and
  • Highly self-motivated and able to drive change management initiatives. 

As Vice President, Finance & Corporate Support, the primary accountabilities are as follows:

  • Provide leadership as part of the executive team reporting to the President & CEO, with accountability for the overall corporate strategy and control of all financial, information technology, supply chain, and electric industry regulatory matters to achieve related corporate goals and objectives;
    • Seek out new approaches or technologies, and apply ingenuity and creativity to foster a climate of innovation;
      • Recognize and explore new business ventures and diversify our service offerings; 
        • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with the financial community and act as an officer of the company as defined under the Business Corporations Act ;
          • Ensure the performance of work and management of staff and systems produce legislated/ directed results in an accurate and timely fashion;
            • Oversee and direct the financial activities of the company, including cash management, investments, short and long-term debt and preparation of long-term financial plans;
            • Focus on long-term cash flow requirements and develop financing options for Board approval;
            • Monitor overall business activities of all of the PUC companies, analyzing the broad range of management and operational information, identifying priorities, and emerging business trends;
            • Assess the financial viability of business cases to identify which potential business ventures should be pursued and the financial implications;
            • Interpret and ensure compliance with and filing of regulatory reports as required by OEB Regulations and Market Rules;
            • Provide vision and leadership in the ongoing development of the PUC’s information systems strategy and ensure that investments will generate the most value for the company;
            • Develop and administer cost effective procurement and inventory policies.
