Human Resources Generalist

 

 

Milton Hydro is looking for an experienced and strategic hands-on Human Resources Generalist to join our team. We serve over 38,000 customers within the Town of Milton, one of the fastest growing communities in the country.   This position will report to the VP Finance with no direct reports.   The HR Generalist will:

  • assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of all HR functions at Milton Hydro
  • be responsible for working with the Management Team on HR policies and procedures to ensure an effective workforce, and
  • be a resource for employees and Managers. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Management in all aspects of Talent Acquisition, On-Boarding, Learning & Development and Organizational Effectiveness. 
  • Ensure compliance with all provincial legislation and regulations - AODA / Diversity / ESA/OHSA/WSIA
  • Responsible to have full knowledge of all Corporate Policies & Procedures and to update and circulate policies and procedures as amended 
  • Source, develop and maintain training programs for managers and employees based on development requirements and legislative compliance , including Apprenticeship Programs 
  • Coordinate payroll modifications for new hires, terminations, retirees, respond to employee inquiries about pay issues and benefits (act as benefits liaison) 
  • Participate in Labour Relations
  • Perform administrative tasks including maintaining employee files, updating job descriptions, preparing reports and analysis of key HR metrics, creating and maintaining organization charts. 
  • Actively contribute to the advancement of the positive health and safety culture 

Requirements: 

  • Post secondary education in Business, Human Resources or related program; CHRL designation or in progress preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources, specializing in full cycle recruitment/talent acquisition ideally in both private and public sector environments
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a unionized environment
  • Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of relevant Employee and Labour Legislation including Employment Standards Act, Ontario Labour Relations Act, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, self-directed and able to effectively research and solve problems
  • Team player with attention to detail and strong strategic, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, ability to handle multiple projects, prioritizing tasks and deadlines, proficient with Microsoft software,
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the Organization.
