REGULATORY ACCOUNTANT

We are looking for a Chartered Professional Accountant (“CPA”) who is adaptable and flexible to the ever-changing requirements of our regulated environment. Under the direction of the Director, Finance, this key financial position will work within a team environment to meet the organization’s responsibilities to its owner, Fortis Inc., the Board of Directors of FortisOntario Inc. and the provincial regulator, Ontario Energy Board.

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Maintaining revenue and regulatory account schedules
• Preparing monthly, quarterly and year-end analyses for revenue and regulatory accounts
• Performing controls in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley program requirements
• Implementing and ensuring compliance with regulatory regulations
• Maintaining regulatory filing models
• Researching authoritative literature for appropriate treatment of accounting topics
• Testing the implementation of new regulatory rate orders in billing system
• Assisting with preparation of corporate tax returns 

Qualifications include:

• CPA designation
• Strong computer skills with advanced Excel skills, experience with SAP would be an asset
• Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises, US GAAP knowledge would be an asset
• Highly organized with a keen attention to detail and able to commit to an increased work volume on a periodic basis
• Excellent team player with the ability to work well independently
• Experience with and knowledge of the deregulated Ontario electricity market would be an asset
