Lineperson (Apprentice Class A and/or Class B)

Reporting to Brantford Power’s Manager of Operations, the Lineperson (Apprentice) is responsible for construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution systems. Duties include but are not limited to maintaining tools and equipment, and trouble-shooting repairs and restoration of system outages. As per the collective agreement Linepersons are required to participate in standby coverage (evenings and weekends) and are expected to be at a job site within thirty minutes of receiving notification of a problem.   Apprentices shall be assigned to standby duty after completion of 36 months.

Applicants must have a Community College diploma or equivalent work experience in an electrical related field and will be enrolled as an Apprentice Powerline Technician with the College of Trades; a valid drivers’ license (or the ability to obtain), preferably “AZ”; and working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and association regulations, (EUSA rulebook and UWPC).  Additional training and experience will be considered an asset. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills are also required.

WAGE RANGE AS PER THE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT:

Apprentice Class B (36 – 48 months) $32.62 per hour plus benefits (effective June 2018   and based on 40 hours per week)
Apprentice Class A (48+ months) $36.69 per hour plus benefits (effective June 2018 and based on 40 hours per week)
