2 Apprentice Powerline Technicians

You have picked your profession and you are almost to the finish line! We want to help you go the distance. Your career aspirations are to become fully competent with the construction, repair and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems and with all aspects of the loading and operating requirements for Radial Boom Derrick Trucks and aerial device trucks, as well as associated rigging techniques. You have gained technical knowledge on the operation of the electrical distribution system, as well as the electrical equipment that comprises the electrical system. You will be expected to apply all areas of the Health and Safety program to your work, assist in assembling material for construction and maintenance projects, and pass the curriculum requirements to achieve qualified, competent journeyperson status. 

An energetic, motivated individual with a good work ethic and strong oral and written communication skills, you are physically fit to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. You must hold a valid driver’s license in good standing, preferably an AZ or DZ class. Completion of the Powerline Technician In School Training for Level 1 from either IHSA or MEARIE. In addition, a membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Trades as an Apprentice Powerline Technician is also required. Completion of a Powerline Technician Diploma from a post-secondary institution is considered at asset.
