Manager, IT Infrastructure

 

Burlington Hydro Inc. is currently seeking a Manager, IT Infrastructure to join our IT team. Reporting to the Vice President Information Technology and CIO, you are responsible for the hands on management of all IT infrastructure and the daily coordination of external vendors with a focus on our key managed service providers. You have advanced organizational and technical skills to manage, prioritize and expedite multiple work assignments in accordance with scheduled IT service commitments. You will direct and coordinate operations related activities that overlap with IT application. With the rapid fire changes in infrastructure technology and support you will recommend new technologies and effective solutions to effectively address evolving infrastructure challenges and changing demands. You are customer service oriented and possess advanced verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with various stakeholders on a daily basis and to foster cooperation and collaboration with internal IT staff, end users and external vendors. As a results oriented individual you have a strong sense of accountability and ownership to both IT Management and the end user for on-time, on-budget project completion and quality of work with minimal supervision. You have demonstrated advanced troubleshooting and problem solving skills to quickly and effectively diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, network and security related events. You excel at operations documentation compliance and recognize the critical role it plays within the current landscape of IT governance. 

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Minimum of a four year University degree in Network and Communications Technology, Computer Science or related discipline with 3 - 5 years experience in an IT Infrastructure Management role
  • Advanced knowledge of IT infrastructure management including operating systems, virtual machines, mail filters, firewalls, network administration and security, VPN communications, telecommunications, active directory management including group policy design and configuration, cloud and hosting related technology solutions, computer resource availability management, backup and recovery methodologies, intrusion prevention and detection toolsets, desktop technical support
  • Management experience in expediting other technical support staff while working in a highly collaborative environment with minimal supervision in all areas of responsibility
  • Demonstrated capability to effectively manage external service providers while fostering good working relationships
  • Proven advanced analytical and problem solving skills for resolution of complex assignments
  • Ability to engage daily in complex infrastructure discussions covering a variety of topics with the intent to effectively expedite a prioritized task list in alignment with evolving IT activities and scheduled service commitments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and a positive approach to work, co-workers, external vendors and key stakeholders
  • Experience with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning
  • Excellent attendance record
