Meter Reader Sub-Foreperson

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic individual with exceptional customer service and technical skills. Working in a non-routine and very complex environment, the Meter Reader Sub-Foreperson is accountable for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the contract meter reading employees to ensure that the final reads, collections, and all routes are read on schedule.

Duties include:

  • Provide guidance to Meter Readers
  • Maintain the meter reading schedule
  • Handle routine problems as they occur with the ITRON Data Capture Devices
  • Familiar and capable of entering and extracting information form the ITRON Data Management Centre
  • Responsible for route changes etc.
  • Perform final readings, checks, and general service readings
  • Perform month-end electric meter reading and data downloads, as required
  • Perform field collection activities
  • Perform field safety audits for contractors
  • Manage field investigations and customer complaints
  • Work in compliance with all health and safety and environmental legislation including, but not limited to, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and Oakville Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc.’s Policies and Procedures. It is the responsibility of the employee to obtain applicable health and safety information from the Company intranet site or your Supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 high school or equivalent
  • 2 years’ experience in a Billing and/or Customer Service environment
  • Experience within a utility environment is an asset
  • Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s Licence and an excellent driving record

  • Intermediate Computer skills in MS office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Competent user of ITRON system, including the ability to transfer the information into the computer system
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Is a fast learner who can adapt to an ever-changing environment
  • Is agile, responsive, and displays a sense of urgency
  • Is self-motivated, with the ability to work independently or as part of team
