An exciting and challenging opportunity is available for a results-oriented individual to be part of a customer-centric energy distribution corporation serving over 23,000 customers in fifteen communities within Grey, Bruce, Huron and Wellington Counties; office located in the Municipality of Brockton, in the town of Walkerton. 

This position will promote a safe work culture though the planning, coordinating, implementing and monitoring of health and safety programs, management systems, policies and procedures. 

  • Responsible to provide Health, Safety, Environmental support and leadership for all departments within the Company, Contractors and the Public
  • Planning, coordinating, implementing and monitoring Health and Safety Programs, policies and procedures
  • Develop criteria for and administer Trades training programs, ensuring adherence to safe work practices
  • Resource and counsel to Management and workers on their responsibilities relative to the OHSA, Certified Legislated requirements, GHS, MIL, MOE, MOT, IHSA and the EUSA/IHSA rule book.
  • Responsible for administering WSIB and early and safe return to work programs
  • Participate with the JHSC, support root cause analysis, provide resolution strategies and follow up to incidents
  • Champion and support corporate wellness initiatives
  • Administer all required safety training for and education programs for all employees
  • Prepare safety reports for leadership team and Board of Directors
  • Participate in hazard awareness and risk assessments, undertake a role in accident investigation, policy and safe work practice implementation 

To assure your expertise and understanding of the electrical industry, this position requires that you possess a minimum of ten years related experience and/or training, inclusive of appropriate degrees/diplomas directly related to the field of Health and Safety. A thorough knowledge of utility electrical distribution systems is an asset, progressive experience related to workplace safety, hazard recognition, accident investigation, safety rules and a solid working knowledge of a safety management system are integral to the success of this position. This dynamic individual will have excellent presentation skills and a collaborative leadership style.
