Primary Duties

Reporting to the Manager, Utilities Engineering, the Engineer duties will include: short/mid-range infrastructure planning, asset management reporting, and planning involved in the construction and maintenance of water and wastewater infrastructure. Demonstrating leadership, coordination, technical and organizational skills, the incumbent will be responsible for the design, cost estimating, specification, tender document creation, and construction administration for various linear and facility infrastructure renewal projects. The incumbent will have demonstrated the ability to foster innovativeness by encouraging and being receptive to suggestion and new ideas and will have successfully applied change management strategies to facilitate the adaptation of new policies, procedures, and technologies. The incumbent will liaise with external agencies, internal departments and the general public on various projects.

The successful incumbent will be effective working in a team environment where consensus and cross-functional collaborations are critical to success and where customer/client service is appreciated and understood. 

  

Education and Qualifications

Licensed Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario, with a university degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering of in another relevant discipline.
A minimum of 5 to 7 years of responsible engineering experience with municipal water and wastewater systems issues,
Project Management Professional Designation (PMP) would be an asset
Experience with Hydraulic Modeling Software, such as Innovyze - InfoSWMM and/or InfoWater would be an asset
Demonstrated knowledge and experience to plan and undertake projects independently,
Familiarity with a broad range of municipal infrastructure issues will be required to undertake and assist in completing a variety of assignments dealing with water and sewer infrastructure,
Familiarity with applicable Canadian and Ontario codes and standards for the design, construction and operation of utilities water and sewer infrastructure,
Utility linear infrastructure, design, tender, and construction administration experience,
Good organizational and project management skills,
Ability to establish effective working relationships and work well independently, as well as in a team environment,
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software products.

Maintain a valid Class “G” driver’s licence throughout employment,
