Energy Efficiency Technical Advisor

We are searching for candidates to fill a one-year contract union position (with potential for full time after one year) reporting to the Manager of Energy Efficiency.

Major duties include:

  • Working within a team to perform and lead the technical review of energy efficiency program applications for business customers, including assessment of energy savings calculations associated with energy conservation measures
  • Managing and communicating information requests for customers/trade allies to address submission deficiencies
  • Reviewing and advising on project baseline data collection and performing data analysis, including statistical and regression techniques, to establish baselines for projects
  • Preparing detailed, IPMVP compliant, measurement and verification (M&V) plans
  • Conducting pre- and post-project inspections of existing equipment and operating parameters or completed project installations
  • Analyzing post project data with respect to the M&V plan, with potential to identify opportunities of improving future operation and efficiency, and preparing M&V reports on project performance
  • Liaising with key account holders and trade allies
  • Conducting walk-through energy assessments of industrial, institutional and large commercial facilities to identify energy conservation opportunities, recommending steps to investigate and providing written reports of findings
  • Providing support to team members in preparation of a variety of reports to manage and monitor project activity 

The incumbent must have, as a minimum, a college diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering with the ability to achieve Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP) designations. It is preferred that the candidate have 3-5 years of relevant experience in the energy efficiency sector and/or experience in performing engineering and energy savings calculations. Knowledge in HVAC, industrial processes, lighting, BAS control systems, IPMVP framework and M&V guidelines is considered an asset. The incumbent must also have strong oral and written communication skills, be proficient in MS Office and have a valid driver’s license.
