SENIOR ACCOUNTING CLERK

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Senior Accounting Clerk will be responsible for, but not limited to, daily cash/bank reconciliations, the timely and accurate completion of journal data entry, account schedules and reconciliations, and sales tax and other such government filings as required.  This position will also be expected to provide support and assistance as required for various audits, budget and other analysis exercises.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Daily reconciliations of cash/bank accounts and management of cheque fraud protection system.
• Calculate, run reports, analyze, prepare schedules and complete monthly filings for sales taxes and other such government filings as required
• Monthly reconciliation and analysis of multiple accounts including, but not limited to, Prepaid Account, Canada Post Account, Retailer Payments, Credit Card Payments, Accounts receivable, A/R Aging & cycle classification, Customer Deposits, IESO Invoice, and HST. 
• Daily interaction as necessary with banking contacts and customer service department to resolve issues such as cash allocation and error investigation and identification.
• Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

To be considered for this position applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
 
• Possess a Certificate or Diploma from a post-secondary school in Accounting/Finance studies. 
• Work experience employing higher-level bookkeeping and accounting skills. Excellent knowledge/experience of computer systems (Great Plains Financial, Web Banking, Microsoft Business – Excel, Word, etc.).   
• Strong knowledge of all aspects of banking (cheque fraud protection management, bank reconciliations, transaction investigation, web banking, interaction with bank representatives, etc.).
• Must be detail oriented and self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to troubleshoot and excellent problem solving skills will be key to success in this position.

WAGE RATE: As per the collective agreement.
