Position Purpose:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Metering, this position is responsible for poly-phase metering installations for residential and commercial customers. The incumbent is responsible for maintenance, removal, replacement, troubleshooting, and/or metering installations.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies the equipment required to be isolated to provide safe job site. Provides information to customers on metering requirements and liaises with customers regarding service requirements.
  • Installs, maintains, removes, replaces and troubleshoots metering applications including specialized applications.
  • Performs interrogation and programming of electronic meters using metering software and hardware. Coordinates the installation and troubleshoots communications issues related to meter interrogation.
  • Supports MV90 and Billing with readings and transferral of files for interrogation.
  • Collaborates with other departments, contractors, Measurement Canada and police regarding metering related issues such as theft of power.
  • Performs cross-phase power quality analysis and troubleshoots transformer related metering installations. 

    • Installs and analyzes load monitoring equipment. Collaborates with other departments, electricians and customers for follow up and resolution of ground fault issues.
    • Safety: Responsible for a working knowledge and understanding of and make all efforts reasonable to work in accordance with and ensuring work is done in compliance with the appropriate safety legislation, EUSR rules, PowerStream policies and procedures and safe work practices that apply to the work while adhering to the internal responsibility system. Reports any unsafe conditions or observed unsafe work practices using PowerStream

    Skills & Qualifications:

    Experience: 

    • Requires a minimum of 2-3 years of related experience.

     

    Education and Professional Designations:

    • Requires a Journeyman Metering Technician Certificate.
    • Electrical Technician Certificate from a community college considered an asset.
    • Requires basic knowledge of Measurement Canada requirements, ESA and EUSR regulations.
    • Requires a valid Class “G” Driver’s License.

     

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Demonstrated ability to solve moderately complex problems.
    • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with coworkers and members of the public to achieve positive outcomes for the company.
    • Requires advanced knowledge of EUSR rules and other related safety regulations.
    • Requires advanced knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements as it relates to individual, organizational and operational requirements.
