Distribution Engineer - Asset Management

Salary Range for Qualified Candidates: $90,473 - $100,525

Reporting to the Director Hydro Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing, planning and organizing the construction and installation of hydro distribution plant to ensure safe, effective and efficient distribution of electrical power. The Distribution Engineer collects information and performs analysis to prepare technical and budgetary reporting to support short and long term spend requirements of sustainment and enhancement projects; monitor and improve processes for recording asset health information using health index scoring; monitor and measure annual sustainment program progress by providing annual reports which summarize the annual activities. This position identifies and determines the hydro distribution infrastructure that can be enhanced or is nearing end of life, this includes studying the system load in order to forecast the loading per transformer station and analysing the system in detail to outline priority projects and to successfully meet future requirements. Collects outage information which is reviewed to determine the root cause of outages and provide solutions to eliminate future outages.

Required qualifications are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with Professional Engineering designation or working toward obtaining P.Eng (EIT status).
  • Minimum of four (4) years prior work experience in Utility Engineering environment is preferred 
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and the construction and design of electrical distribution 
  • systems, related equipment and materials.
  • Understanding of industry deregulated rules and regulations, CSA and other Industry 
  • Standards, and the application of ESA 22/04 Regulations.
  • Proficient in computer systems and software implementation. Experience working with a  
  • variety of computer systems including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver verbal and written reports. 
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills. 
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member or leader of a team 
  • Valid class ‘G’ driver’s license.
