Supervisor, Hydro and Water Meter Shop

Salary Range: $83,660 - $92,955

 

 

Reporting to the Director, Shared Services, the successful applicant will be responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising all activities, functions and staff related to both hydro and water meter services. This position is the Management Representative responsible for ensuring ENWIN meets all metering regulatory and legislative requirements as outlined by Measurement Canada, IESO (Independent Electricity Systems Operator) market rules and American Water Works Association Standard (AWWA). The Supervisor is responsible for monitoring staff compliance with all activities related to measuring devices to ensure devices are installed and removed safely in accordance with all applicable regulations. This position is the main public contact for metering services handling inquiries from customers, staff and other related trades and assists police and fire department in investigations related to theft of power and illegal grow operations. 

The duties include but are not limited to: ensuring ENWIN meets all metering regulatory and legislative requirements; scheduling and assigning the day to day duties of unionized staff to ensure the timely delivery of meter services provided through assigned areas; maintaining and controlling meter inventory levels; leading, guiding and measuring external contractor performance; identifying and evaluating evolving technologies and proposes implementation to Director, Shared Services, collaborating with Purchasing department on the procurement of all meter and meter related equipment to meet industry standards while maintaining low overhead levels; formulating and implementing retest programme mandated by Measurement Canada; developing and maintaining work procedures and documentation within the ISO9001 framework; developing and reporting on monthly key performance indicators (KPI's); monitoring and meeting current year budget targets while collaborating with the Director Shared Services on setting forward years’ capital and expense budgets. 

The successful applicant must have the following skills and abilities: 

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Engineering or Business. 
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in similar or related field with minimum one (1) year in leadership capacity. 
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards as outlined by Measurement Canada, ISO9000, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, IHSA (Infrastructure Health and Safety Association) Safe Practice Guide and IESO (Independent Electricity Systems Operator) market rules, American Water Works Association Standard (AWWA), ISO-9001-2008 and ISO 2001-2015. 
  • Certified Journeyperson - Meter Technician, Certified Meter Technologist considered an asset. 
  • Courses in digital metering, 800A Meter Licence, Water Meter Repair diploma would be considered assets.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   
  • Ability to lead a team towards well defined goals and deliverables. 
  • Planning skills over long term horizon. 
  • Ability to successfully develop business proposals. 
  • Working knowledge of hydro and water “meter to bill” processes and related systems 
  • Working Knowledge of SAP, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office software, MV-90, MVLTxi and Meter Cad. 
  • Strong supervisory, leadership and problem solving skills. Experience supervising in a unionized environment would be an asset. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with vendors and contractors.
