As our new supervisor, you will grow and maintain our system’s integrity. You will use your excellent leadership skills to manage and organize your team to expand the use of smart metering and MV90, plan our asset management to support our capital budget and help us meet our conservation targets as defined by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB).

For this role your responsibilities will include: 

  • Lead metering services initiatives including implementation, testing, verification, validation and reporting of smart metering and MV90
  • Prepare annual corporate budgets and 10 year forecast capital budgets
  • Prepare load forecasts and provide monthly OEB system performance metrics
  • Ensure day-to-day work is managed on budget and all projects completed in a timely manner
  • Maintain awareness and compliance associated with developments in the metering field and with measurement rules and regulations
  • Provide input to energy initiatives including preparation of strategic plans to meet government requirements, reconciling and reporting on costs and supporting filings to all government and regulatory bodies
  • Monitor OEB, Ministry of Energy and other bodies for new legislation or regulations that impact Burlington Hydro
  • Provide safety leadership ensuring safe, efficient, and timely completion of all required tasks in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations, the Electrical Utility Safety Rules, and Burlington Hydro Policies & Procedures; enforced as required
  • Ensure positive labour relations through proper administration of the Collective Agreement and company policies to ensure performance expectations are met and a positive work environment is maintained
  • Provide direction, including establishing goals and training requirements, performance evaluations, and coaching.

Qualifications

  •  Experience in a supervisory role
  • Experience in the utility industry
  • Experience preparing and administering budgets
  • Experience working with OEB regulations and Smart Meter Technology
  • Experience leading metering initiatives
  • Working knowledge of measurement Canada Rules/Regulations and ESA 22/09 Regulations
  • Electrical Engineering Technology Degree or Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • OACETT certification or Journeyperson Metering Technician
  • Experience in a role with leading conservation initiatives
  • Excellent human relation, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership and management abilities 

This is a full-time position in Burlington, Ontario.
