About the Role 

We are looking for a Supervisor, Distribution Operations who is accountable for the powerline crews and external contractors working on the distribution system. The focus of this position is to plan and schedule the day-to-day activities of the line crews in a safe and efficient matter. 

Duties Include: 

  • Lead a group of professional technicians, including establishing goals and training requirements, performance evaluations, and coaching.
  • Safety leader - ensuring safe, efficient, and timely completion of all required tasks in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations, the Electrical Utility Safety Rules, and the Company’s Policies & Procedures.
  • Plan, organize, schedule, assign and supervise employee and contractor activities engaged in the construction, installation, repair and maintenance of the overhead and underground electrical distribution system.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering and Construction Department for project planning, management, design, and material requirements.
  • Ensure that materials, equipment and vehicles are available, properly maintained and properly used at all times.
  • Ensure positive labour relations through proper administration of the Collective Agreement and Company policies.
  • Participate in setting yearly capital and operating budgets.
  • Work in compliance with all health and safety and environmental legislation including, but not limited to, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and the Company’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Be accountable for the health and safety of your employees within the Company and actively promote health and safety to your employees. This includes but is not limited to: ensure your employees receive appropriate safety training; conduct incident investigations; correct substandard acts or conditions; commend employee health and safety performance; perform safety observations; conduct safety meetings.
  • Other duties assigned by the Manager. 

Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Two or more years’ experience in the industry or equivalent related utility experience.
  • Three or more years of demonstrated excellent supervisory experience.
  • Graduate of a related Technical program, C.E.T., P.Eng or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to understand and read substation and grid maps.
  • Must possess a full G driver’s license and proof of a clean driving abstract.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to think not only of the present but understanding their client’s needs and suggest how to corporately evolve to offer profitable services currently not provided.
