Apprentice Lineperson(s) (2nd Year & Higher)

 

Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. invites resumes for the 12-month contract position of Apprentice Lineperson(s). This position reports directly to the Operations Supervisor and is responsible for assisting in the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution systems along with complying with all policies, procedures and regulations to ensure personal safety and that of others while performing electrical duties in a crew environment. 

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Must have successful completion of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Post Secondary School Diploma is preferred.
  • Electrical Engineering Technician Certificate is an asset.
  • Must be enrolled in the MEARIE or IHSA Journeyman Powerline Technician Certificate Program with successful completion of second year schooling and is working towards obtaining certification.
  • Must be willing to meet qualifications and accept full responsibilities of Journeyman Powerline Technician upon certification.
  • Must have a valid “D” driver’s licence and a “Z” endorsement and be able to obtain an “A” or restricted “A” licence
  • Experience in the electrical field or completion of electrical courses would be an asset.
  • Be in good health, and physically fit for linework, and will be required to pass a medical examination.
  • Must have the flexibility to work possible afternoon shifts.   

The successful applicant must perform regular standby duty and call-outs and must reside within the service area of Niagara Peninsula Energy. The applicant must enjoy working in a team environment and have substantial proficiency in the line trade.
