E.L.K. Energy is a Local Distribution Company serving the communities of Belle River, Comber, Cottam, Essex, Harrow and Kingsville. We currently require a dynamic individual to assume the responsibilities of Asset Management & Engineering Supervisor. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer & Director, Stakeholder Relations, the ideal candidate is a self-starter with a great work ethic and desire to learn. This is a full-time, non-union position based on 40 hours per week. Current hours of work are from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The main duties and responsibilities of this position will include: 

  • Assist in the preparation of annual rate submissions, rate design, cost of service and cost allocation filings;
  • Support the coordination and project management of capital and maintenance programs;
  • Assist in the preparation of and provide technical review for capital and maintenance financial budget;
  • Review and assess capital cost estimates, including the development of economic considerations for projects;
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual Ontario Energy Board (OEB) Reporting and Record Keeping;
  • Assist the Operations Manager to procure materials and services in accordance with E.L.K.’s purchasing policy;
  • Research potential regulated and unregulated business opportunities;
  • Plan, co-ordinate, evaluate and deliver electrical energy and demand management programs;
  • Coordinate and assist the Operations Manager in the approval and preparation of design plans, specifications for the construction and repair of overhead and underground electric power distribution systems and street lighting, through safe, efficient and effective deployment of resources;
  • Analyze technical, financial and environmental impacts associated with potential renewable energy opportunities and assess business development opportunities;
  • Work with Sub-Foreman and Leadhand as directed;
  • Assist in the preparation of yearly ESA audit, distribution maps and standard drawings in AutoCAD;
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all internal departments, employees, customers, contractors, various legislative bodies, municipal agencies and governments and other agencies;
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, policies and health and safety procedures and appropriate work methods;
  • Work with a high degree of technical accuracy and self-checking;
  • Plan, organize, co-ordinate and manage daily assigned work;
  • Other duties as assigned;

Qualifications: 

  • Post-secondary degree in Electrical Engineering. Registered in good standing and a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) of Ontario;
  • Minimum of three (3) years in an electric engineering environment, preferably in a regulated utility environment;
  • Sound knowledge of and demonstrated experience in electrical distribution operations, maintenance and construction;
  • Knowledge of Power Distribution Systems;
  • Knowledge of OEB regulations and standard electrical utility practice is considered an asset;
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Applications, AutoCAD, SPIDAcalc;
  • Demonstrated experience with financial reporting, budgeting and project management;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills;
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to handle several initiatives concurrently;
  • Well-developed analytical, organizational and technical skills;
