Journeyman Lineman (M/F) – 2 Positions

This position is responsible the construction, maintenance, operation and troubleshooting of the electric distribution system (overhead and underground) on all voltages. 

Key Duties:   

  • Operate and build underground lines
  • Erect poles, and associated structures for power lines
  • Install conductors and associated apparatus
  • Perform assigned maintenance work, trouble-shoot and restore electric power during emergencies.
  • Install, operate and maintain line apparatus (e.g. transformers, regulators)
  • Hook up cubicles and switching devices related to the distribution system
  • Understand and operate motorized vehicles and equipment such as boom trucks, portable generators and pumps.
  • Install single-phase meter equipment
  • Perform line clearing duties as required
  • Solve routine problems
  • Perform on-call duties
  • Sign off jobs (e.g. on call one); ESA regulations (2014)
  • CVOR checks/logs; track jobs hours for CVOR
  • Track personal job hours for timesheet (projects, etc.)
  • UWPC Tags
  • Outage reports
  • OMS logs
  • Mentor and/or train Apprentices
  • Provide input on the evaluation of Apprentices
  • Ensures the safe and efficient completion of tasks
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes and advise supervisor of risks within business processes 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Qualified Journeyman Lineman ((M/F) including the successful completion of the M.E.A. Linesperson Training Program, or equivalent (3rd & 4 Year Apprentices may be taken into consideration)
  • Proficient in the use of all tools and equipment associated with the trade
  • Valid Class "D" driver's licence with "Z" endorsement
  • Able to work from work orders, specifications, standards and instructions and to interpret prints, sketches and diagrams
  • Strong communicator, excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills
